Honestly, what drives me crazy is after someone has emailed me, gets the out of office, then *does* email someone else instead of waiting for me to get back. Yet said someone doesn’t email me back to say “see you’re out, person X got it taken care of, you can disregard my email”. So then I waste time seeing the initial request and following up. Has anyone found a good wording / other solution to know if the request was completed by someone else?

That said, I do realize that I can’t just not use my phone at work. I’m surprised she has not been called on it by her coworkers yet!
The weather has changed, so I have decided to book myself a little break in the sunshine.

Maternity leave is a time when the extended time is taken off of work for the birth of a child. This can leave quite a loss at an organization where the fulfillment of an expected role is being fulfilled. Leaving a maternity leave out of office message will forward on the expected contact for your job while you are gone. This will ensure you have less pile up of paperwork when you return while the business has an ability to continue onward. Here is a look at some great samples that will get your auto responder set up.
I worked at an office where we used OOO messages on voicemail pretty regularly and if we forgot to change the message, our callers were quick to tell us the outgoing message was outdated. That end date feature would have been a big help for us! A local council in Wales needed to get a road sign translated into Welsh. (All official signs in Wales have to be in both English and Welsh.) They got an out of office message in Welsh from the translator they contacted, assumed that was the translation and printed the out of office message on the sign. They didn’t realise their mistake till a Welsh speaker pointed it out…

There’s a grim, apologetic vibe to these messages — I’m sorry I’m taking time for myself but I’ll try to check in on occasion! They’re a vivid reflection of a work culture that valorizes constant productivity and the near-total overlap of work and life. But they’re also do a terrible job of what they’re intended to do, e.g., set realistic expectations for both sender and recipient. A vague OOO message traps both parties in an uncomfortable liminal space where both productivity and rest go to die. The original sender is left unsure if they’ll be getting a timely response or a whether the email will go ignored for a time or forever. The original recipient has taken what is a rock solid excuse (time off) and cheapened it, offering a backdoor for email guilt to creep in.
Thank you for your message. I am currently out of the office, with no email access. I will be returning on (Date of Return).
I’ll be 1 percent connected while on vacation so I’m not 100 percent panicked on return. Thank you for emailing me.

This seems like information that would be better in an email signature than an OOO, really. That’s how my organisation does it.
Plus, he incorporated a delightful technique to let people know that if they really wanted him to read their emails, they should probably send them again after his return. Not only does that keep the sender accountable by saying, “If this is really important, you know when to reach me,” but it also helps him truly vacate his work while he’s away. And that’s hard to do. First, travel to my homeland of Florida. Climb to the highest peak of the tallest mountain. Find a rare flower (no specifics, of course… It’d be cheating). Put the flower back, because as the old hiking rule goes, “Leave everything as you found it.”
