I suppose it’s better than a colleague of mine who’s out of office is always: “I am out of the office until XXX. Please email me if you need assistance.”
But what should you do to keep the message informative, engaged and maybe a little festive?

Not an out of office, but I had a sign I used to put on my closed door whenever I was head down on something and didn’t want to be disturbed:
I’m currently out of the office, enjoying some peanuts and Cracker Jacks with my family. Can you guess where I am? That’s okay, you’re busy.
We are closed today for the [public holiday name]. Our office will re-open tomorrow at am.
Thanks for your email. I’m on vacation. On the couch. Eating chips. And bingeing Stranger Things for the eighth time (don’t tell anyone).

Catch ya then, don’t forget to buy a pepperoni pizza for Splinter. (Source: Futureofworking.com)
