An easy win here is to be specific about your out-of-office dates, or to be upbeat about why you are out of office.
And… it’s playing in the background as I write this email. Guess what? I’m on vacation! And I do love my occupation.

If instead you ask your co-workers to cc or bcc on replies then you will know which have been dealt with. (I think for internal mails it’s more reasonable to ask that if the original person contacts someone else, they cc you so you know who is dealing – and in smaller organisations where people know you personally you could also send a mail round the day before you leave to say you’re going to be out and to ask that any enquiries are directed to [name]in your absence, to try to avoid them coming into your inbox in the first place.
Just say you’re away from your desk! Or if you’re out for more than a day, just say you’re “away” until XYZ date.

This works fine but I notice it also adds after your auto-responder at the bottom an option for them to reply “urgent” to ensure I receive notifications which seems damn pointless if you ask me. Is there a way to switch that off because it seems to be counter-intuitive to setting the auto-responder that you’re not there or on leave? Thanks Trace
There is no solution work with this method. However, you can set voice message and send all unknown numbers to voice message, iPhone Settings > Phone > Silence unknown callers > Turn ON, See details here: https://mashtips.com/block-spam-calls-unknown-callers-iphone/
You can set the ‘favourites’ phone calls to pass through the DND but does this also apply to their text messages or only their phone calls?
And yet regardless of your job description, the humble OOO can do much more besides simply telling people not to expect a prompt reply. Crafted subtly enough, it can even drum up business for you. While they wait for you to respond, perhaps they’d like to check out your new website or sign up for your monthly newsletter?
My favorite thing is setting my OOO to only run for a specific amount of time. I will absolutely forget to turn it off if I have to do it manually, but we can just set a date/time range for it to start/stop. So I usually start it around 4 pm the day before and end it at 7 or 8pm the night before I return.

“Hi, I’m Troy McClure!” We’re not sure who wrote the original Troy McClure out of office message, but this version by Paul Sokol of Infusionsoft is a real gem.
The bad news is that I’m out of office. The good news is that I’m out of office and enjoying elotes in Cancún.
I agree. I think this one is way too long and comes off as trying to be too cute.
The main thing to equivocate over for this sort of response is what details to include as a backup contact method. If your line of work means clients might need to urgently contact you, a mobile number might be appropriate, or if you’re lucky enough to have an assistant (must be nice), you can list their contact details.
