10. Keep It Upbeat. We’ve already got you smiling while you record your greeting, so now let’s talk about your wording. Avoiding negative words like sorry, unfortunately, and can’t goes a long away in making your voicemail a positive experience overall.
Expand your opening to with 'Thank you for calling [insert company/individual name]' or 'You've reached the voicemail of [insert company/individual name]'. This personal touch goes a long way towards building a rapport even when you're not available to answer the call directly.
CAN I USE SLYDIAL TO CONNECT TO THE VOICEMAIL OF A LANDLINE PHONE NUMBER? No. Slydial only works to connect to the voicemail of a U.S. mobile phone user. Slydial works with all major U.S. wireless providers. No, there are some numbers that simply cannot be 'slydialed'. For example, you cannot slydial someone who has a prepaid mobile phone, does not have a voice-mailbox on his/her phone, a full voice-mailbox, or a third-party voicemail service (e.g. Google Voice, Youmail). Additionally, Google Voice numbers or other VoIP numbers cannot be slydialed. On some occasions, we temporarily may not be able to complete your call due to things like network congestion, network interoperability or local number portability (LNP). Slydial never blocks your caller ID, so your telephone number will always appear on the other person's phone. The number you enter into the slydial app must be the same as your native cell phone number. If you enter a different phone number into the app, this will not change your Caller ID. The app will not work if an incorrect phone number has been entered in to your app. If you have Caller ID blocked on your phone, try dialing *82 before you dial 267-SLYDIAL to unblock Caller ID for a single call. Unavailable Message Recording: This is the greeting that the system will play to the callers that reach your voicemail. There are three options available for this recording: System Default - The system will use the generic greeting message recording when the callers reach the Voicemail. Set by Phone - The system will use the recording set by the phone by the user via dialing *97 / *98 and choosing option 0 to record it. Recordings - The system will use the associated Recordings previously uploaded via the Customer Portal tool at DID Numbers > Recordings.

Business owners and everyday customers know that there will be times — like the holidays — when things get busy. When you’re transparent about why you weren’t able to come to the phone, people typically understand and are much more willing to be patient with your business. If the goal is to encourage more people to leave a voicemail, your greetings have to be actionable and clearly dictate what you want the caller to do. Having a caller go to voicemail is not the end of the world; it’s going to happen, so you have to make the most of it.
Happy [Monday!] You’ve reached [Jessica on the Business Development Team at LinkedPhone]. I’m presently out of the office [for a meeting until late this afternoon]. Please include your name, number and the reason for your call and I’ll get back to you ASAP. Thank you and have a fantastic day!
“You better leave a message before you go away. I don’t believe that there is nothing you can say. I’ll be back for you, to return your call. I’ll get back to you, if you say you want me to.”
@Fa5t3r - I would try a wide range of different tones when recording and play them back to see what goes over the best and what projects the image you want people to hear. Remember that some people may be going to hear this message over and over again depending on how often they have to call you so you want it to be very pleasant and not at all irritating.
