Although I’ve spent some time tinkering with and learning Python over the last few months, I don’t have much experience with building apps that call third-party APIs, such as those from Twilio. Luckily, Twilio offers several Quickstart examples for a number of programming languages. And one of those examples shows to how to create a Python app that accepts incoming calls, plays a voicemail greeting and records a caller message. This is the Quickstart code that I tweaked for our project.

Expanding on the simple approach above, let the caller know who they've reached. This will not only eliminate people leaving voicemails by mistake, but it will reassure the caller that they have called the number they intended.
Using this app, you can scan the voicemail messages in your text message inbox. Simply read the transcription and you don’t need to listen to them one by one. It supports time efficiency as you can decide which messages to follow up. If needed, you can send voicemail copies to your email so you can delete the messages in the storage.

Voicemail Number: This will be used as a unique identifier for your mailbox. The minimum is adding one digit to up to ten digits, for example you can set 1 or 5432897. NOTE: The number cannot be set to 0. If you have your mailbox to 0 it's suggested to change to a different value to prevent issues with the voicemail service.

Voicemails don’t necessarily have to be monotonous or extremely jazzy or funky. What you should be looking for is a balance between the two. Whenever you call someone and their voicemail greeting is playing, it tells you a lot about who they are, as a person. Which is why, you’ve got to put a little bit of “you” when it comes to voicemail. And the best part about all of this is, since you couldn’t come to the phone, at least the callers are having a good time listening to the message.

Give The Caller Instructions: Instruct the callers what topics you want them to leave voicemails for, and what topics you want them to call back for during office hours.
