2. Tap and hold the "1" for about two seconds until the phone automatically calls voicemail.
To change your greeting: Call into your voicemail. Press 3 for personal options. Press 1 for greetings or mailbox name. Choose what you want to do: Press 1 to record a personal greeting; Press 2 for a temporary greeting; Press 3 to use a system-generated greeting; Press 4 to set up a greeting when your phone is busy; Follow the voice prompts.

The interconnectedness of our lives has become so pervasive in recent years that it is sometimes difficult to imagine taking a break from checking our phones at all hours of the day.
The tutorial performed below was done on an iPhone 5 that is using the iOS 7 version of the operating system. Your screens may look different if you are using a different version.
On the Greeting page there are two options. The standard option is to use the default iPhone voicemail message, but you can also record a custom message. If you already have a custom iPhone voicemail message recorded, tap Play to listen to it now. Otherwise tap Custom.
One of the best and quick fix to this issue is to turn off Wi-Fi for once and switch to Cellular data connection and then try to change the default greeting to custom on iPhone.
Tap “Phone” on your iPhone’s “Home” screen and tap “Voicemail” to access your voice-mail settings. Tap “Greeting” and select “Default” if you wish to use the default greeting for your voice mails. Click “Custom” if you want to create a personalized greeting, and tap “Record” to say your greeting.
Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
