FROM YOUR WIRELESS: Press and hold the 1 key to access the voicemail system. When you hear the recorded message, press the # key to bring you to the system menu. Press 4, for the Personal Options followed by 2 for Personal Greeting. Follow the prompts to record, listen to, re-record and save your greeting.
Tap Record a new greeting. Note: If necessary, delete an existing greeting (limit of 2 greetings) to make room for the new greeting: Tap the Menu key, tap Delete greetings, tap the check box next to the desired greeting, and then tap Delete.

Access to voicemail can also be obtained through the iPhone’s dial pad by pressing and holding down the 1 key until your phone calls your 10-digit phone number, or by pressing the voicemail icon, which can be found in the bottom right corner of the dial pad screen, as shown in the image below.

5. US Cellular: Dial *86 (*VM) from your US Cellular device, then press “Call.” This command will dial you into the voicemail system’s main menu. Press “3” to access the Greetings menu.
Open the “Settings” on your phone.Go to “Phone Apps or “System Apps” and open it.
At present, you have to record your greeting by recording directly into the iPhone microphone -- the results of which are average, of course.

No you can’t. I just called and asked for it to be turned off completely and was told it is impossible. It’s aggravating to get conflicting information. Obviously either the CS Team member who wrote the previous post, or the employee I just spoke to on the phone, doesn’t know what they’re talking about.
