Change your iPhone voicemail greeting using the Phone app on your device. The Phone app is the one with the white phone icon in a green box. For many users, this icon is one of the four permanent apps on the bottom of the screen. Tap the Phone app icon to enter the phone application.

If your voicemail has been set up and you are unable to change your greeting through the 'Voicemail' tab, dial *86 then choose option 4 to change. From a Home screen, tap the Phone app . If an app isn't available on your Home screen, swipe left to access the App Library. Tap Voicemail then tap Greeting (upper-left).

If you don't record a new greeting, callers hear the default greeting. To record a new greeting: Open the Google Voice app . At the top left, tap Menu Settings. After pressing the Voicemail tab, all of the voicemails stored on your device will display. From here, you’re going to want to tapGreeting located in the top left. There will be two options located on the Greeting page: One option to utilize the default voicemail message and another to record a custom message.

If you have a visual voicemail applications installed on your Galaxy S21, you can alternately use that app to record and set a greeting instead.

Note: a desk phones' voicemail greeting can only be recorded via phone, there is no way to upload or download a greeting through the online panel.

When leaving a voicemail, hanging up sends it. The other person listens to the exact same audio file that you recorded by leaving the voicemail on that automated system, which just so happens to be the same exact system playing back that audio file as output for the intended recipient.
