Your voicemail is set up with a default greeting, but you can record a personal greeting any time you want.
I put in a 7-15 digit password and click Done, but I get the message “Voicemail Error” try again later everytime. Help.

Thanks for the explanation. It does indeed sound like there’s no convenient solution till your whole system gets revamped. To briefly explain *why* I don’t want your voicemail enabled: I use my USMobile number as a forwarding line for Google Voice. Google Voice’s voicemail is frankly superior to yours so I want to use it exclusively. When your voicemail kicks in it interferes with Google Voice’s operation, causing me frustration and a real mess. I’ll give some thought to whether I want to be bothered with going through a quarterly exercise of calling and re-disabling your voicemail.

What eventually worked is going into my deleted voicemails and pushing "Clear All".
Tap Change Voicemail Password. Enter the new password (4-6 digits) then tap Done. If requested, enter the current password. Re-enter the new password, then tap Done. If that doesn’t work, contact your phone carrier to change your passcode or PIN. Or if your phone carrier has an account app (like Verizon’s My Verizon App), you can update
If you don’t have access to your online account, you can dial in to your voicemail by pressing and holding the ‘1’ key on your phone’s keypad. After your phone connects to the voicemail system, you can access your password settings by pressing ‘*’, followed by the 5 key.
Some cell phone service providers allow users to access their voicemail accounts via external methods such as landlines, and those users could keep the voicemail greetings updated in the absence of cellular and internet service.

Solution 1: Disable Wi-Fi and Use Cellular Data While Changing Voicemail Greeting
Tap on the Google Fi app on your device’s home screen. Tap on the Account tab. Under Phone settings, tap on Voicemail. Tap on Manage greeting. Tap on the Microphone button to record a new voicemail message, or skip ahead to step 8. Tap on Keep to save the new message, or on Redo to try another one.
