Call your iPhone from another phone and try to leave yourself a voicemail. Go to the keypad and press and hold on the 1, or press the Call Voicemail button. This dials voicemail. Check if you have any missed messages.
You will be automatically connected to your mailbox and required to enter your temporary password, which is the last four digits of your phone number followed by the # key; this password is case-sensitive.

In the event that you are requested, enter your voicemail password and then follow the on-screen instructions to set up your voicemail.
If you've forgotten your retrieval number, call 800-244-1111 to get it. Alternately, the number was included in the welcome letter you received when you signed up for voicemail service.
Users lacking the option and means of accessing their voicemail accounts from landlines would not be able to keep their greetings updated in the absence of cellular and internet service.

FROM YOUR WIRELESS: Press and hold the 1 key to access the voicemail system. When you hear the recorded message, press the # key to bring you to the system menu. Press 4, for the Personal Options followed by 2 for Personal Greeting. Follow the prompts to record, listen to, re-record and save your greeting.
