The greeting section does not work. Call your own number and listen to the automated voice tell you whether you have messages or not. Then wait for further instructions. It will tell you to press four for personal options and then you press three to change or listen to your previous greeting.

Step 5. In the greeting section, select whether you want the greeting to be default or custom. Choose custom if you want to record your own voice for a personalized greeting.
How how how can that be??!! This is the year 2016, and I can’t set basic options like the number of rings! Actually I too want to turn off voicemail completely. I am aghast to read I don’t have a choice.

I have tried all of the suggestions above and still can't save a custom voicemail greeting. seems like such a simple task, I can't believe Apple hasn't fixed this bug. From the Android Mobile App: Click the More button at the top left of the mobile app. Select Voicemail. Click Folder with Music Icon located at the top of the mobile app. Click the Record button, give the recording a title, and click OK. The system will call your extension. Answer the call and follow the prompts to record your new greeting.
