If you haven’t set up any voicemail on your iPhone, here’s how to do it step by step!
Just NowCheck your voicemail on iPhone. In the Phone app , Visual Voicemail (available from select carriers) shows a list of your messages. You can choose which ones to play and delete without listening to all of them. A badge on the Voicemail icon indicates the number of unheard messages.

Visual voicemail messages and non-visual voicemail messages are not stored on the SIM card. They should be stored on your carrier’s servers, so contact your carrier. On your Android device, open the Google Voice app . At the top left, tap Menu. Settings. Under Voicemail, turn on the type of forwarding that you want: Get voicemail via message – Tap, and then next to your linked number, tick the box. Does a voicemail automatically send?
Pro tip: You can double-check to see if voicemail is set up on your iPhone by dialing and calling your own phone number in the Keypad of the Phone app, or by calling your iPhone using another phone.
And you’re done! Your CenturyLink voicemail is now set up. Whenever you have an unheard message, you'll hear a stuttered dial tone when you pick up your home phone. Take a few minutes to gather your thoughts, even jot down a few notes, and practice before you record. Before you start recording, turn off anything in the background that might cause noise. This will ensure your voice is clear and easy to understand. While clever greetings can be fun, it's worth taking a moment to think about the range of potential callers who may be leaving you voicemail. Consider the tone and image you want to project. Don't worry! If you don't like your recording, you can erase it and re-record as many times as you'd like.
Whether you can record your own greeting (also known as “voicemail outgoing message”) depends on your carrier and whether they have their own mechanism in place, or integrate neatly with the iPhone’s native functionality.
So far you probably had a generic voicemail greeting on your iPhone and want to change it to a personal voicemail greeting and with most carriers you don’t even need an additional voicemail recording app and can record a custom voicemail greeting directly on iPhone.
On the Phone tab, click the voicemail icon below the dial pad, and then click Change Greetings. Skype for Business calls your voicemail and guides you to record a personal greeting.
3. Mobile Wireless: Press and hold the “1” button on the dialer screen of your T-Mobile device. This command automatically dials into the T-Mobile voicemail system.
