While recording, it is a good idea to keep the iPhone voicemail message short. Ideally do not make callers listen to you for more than 25 seconds.
At present, you have to record your greeting by recording directly into the iPhone microphone -- the results of which are average, of course.
Now select “Greeting” in the upper left of the screen. Tap “Custom” and then “Record” to record your personalized voicemail greeting.
From your: Wireless phone: Press and hold 1 or the Voicemail key. AT&T Wireless Home Phone: Dial 1 from your connected home phone. Enter your voicemail password if prompted. In the Main Menu, press 4 for Personal Options. Press 3 to Change Greetings. Follow the voice prompts to record a personal greeting.
