When you want callers to leave a message, make sure your voicemail greeting indicates that. Be sure to keep your greeting short and direct, and include the info you want to capture.

But be careful not to talk too slowly. Callers that are short on time will not be motivated to stick around to leave a message.

You should acknowledge that right off the bat by apologizing that they couldn't reach you directly.
3. Provide other ways to contact you or get information. Are there other ways your caller can get information about your business or contact you? Consider including your website or an email in your after-hours greeting.
