I would have to hang up and let the machine pick up just for other people's entertainment. Dozens of people were finally calling my home phone, but few of them wanted to talk to me personally.

So, it stands to reason that you only promise them a call back if you can deliver. However, if you have an active customer service staff, then you can promise to return their call within the same day.

In Australian English it’s pronounced with the vowel /a:/ like in ‘part’. Problems arise when people use the /ʌ/ vowel (like in ‘up’) instead of /æ/ or /a:/.
