Avoid using ‘please’ more than once, it gets wordy and redundant. The goal is to keep the content as concise as possible, moving callers quickly and seamlessly through the options.
Friendly Voicemail Greeting Example. Hello, this is [your name] at [X company]. I am currently unavailable. My office hours are Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm. Please leave me a message with your name and phone number and I’ll get back to you within [one, two, three] business day[s]. Have a wonderful day.

I’m especially busy today, but if you leave me your name, phone number, and a brief message, I’ll get back to you within the day. Chat soon!” Your callers want to hear from you soon. Calling back within the business day lets them know you’re reliable despite how busy you are.
This is the type of message you should aim for when you are recording an answering machine greeting at your place of business. Some people do need to leave other information for business salutations, such as office hours, and they may leave special messages when they’re on vacation. Name of the business, or your name can be important too, since people may want to be sure they’ve reached the right person or business. Answering machine greetings should be pleasant in tone.
